Theater on tour
In the weekend of 13 to 15 March I made an aftermovie of all the events that took place that took place during that same weekend, thus visiting alot of plays and stand-up comedy acts. I had alot of fun, but it was very challenging as the aftermovie had to be finished and presented that same weekend! The video below is the endresult.
Interstellar | Pathé arena
"Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Interstellar is an epic sci-fi film about the exploration of space. Sounds unrealistic? What if I told you that the film is based on real physics, and that new scientific discoveries have been found during the making of this film!
The director, Christopher Nolan, said: "Why not make a sci-fi, that is souly based on real physics?". He invited the famous theoretical physician Kipp Thorn to help him with this.
The film is visually amazing and storywise it is a masterpiece. Never in my life, have I experienced such situational irony in a film!
For the film, they had to simulate a black hole and a worm-hole. Normally, artists would signify a small dot in space as a black hole and that is how most people would visualize a black hole today. But Interstellar used latter-day physics to illustrate black holes; they entered equations explaining the properties of a black hole in a special 3d program, and let the special effects team convert them to real imagery. What came out, is truely mind-boggling (see the picture on the right).
If you haven't seen Interstellar yet, you are genuinely missing out on something! It's the best film I have seen yet.

The hunger games: Mockingjay | pathé arena
"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met at midnight, in the hanging tree."
It is the third film of the trilogy of The Hunger Games, yet it is not the final one. The director, Francis Lawrence, does not want to compress all the action of the third book into one single film, much like David Yates did with Harry Potter.
In the film we follow Katniss Everdeen, the rebelious ex-tribute from district 12 who has sparked an uprising with her escape from the Quarter Quell.
The story get's more serious as you progress to the trilogy, and David Yates did a great job depicting it.
Overall an amazing, action packed film. Definitely go see it and if you have not already seen the previous films of the series, definitely go see them too!

Samba | 'de hallen'
When I was invited to go to this film, I was not really excited. A French film? Why would I ever want to watch that! When I stepped out of the cinema, I was blown away. The cinematography, character development and script were amazing. And it was not just the film that was amazing, the cinema was the most epicly designed cinema I have ever been to. The cinema is just a small part of the hallen though, there are alot of food stalls with delicious food and the people working there are very kind. If you have not yet been to the hallen, definitely visit the place.

Both struggle to get out of their dead-end lives Samba's willing to do whatever it takes to get working papers, while Alice tries to get her life back on track until fate draws them together.
what's eating Gilbert grape | Rsg broklede
This cultural activity was mandatory for the subject of GLC. We had to pick a film that we would like to see and had to watch it at school. Without knowing what was ahead of me, I picked a random film from the list of films that we could choose from. It turned out to be What's Eating Gilbert Grape?. I am a fan of both Leonardo DiCaprio's and Johny Depp's acting styles yet I did not know they both starred in this film! That was a very pleasant surprise which made the film funny to watch, seeing how they have changed over the years. The story of the film itself did not really spark interest though, I thought it to be rather childish. I assume there's a deeper meaning to the story though, which I have yet to discover.
I would recommend this film, but not based on the plot. I would recommend the film because it's a classic in film history starring two of the most brilliant actors of our time.

Gilbert Grape lives in Endora, a place where nothing much happens. The only times the police got something to do is when Gilbert's autistic brother Arnie tries to climb up on the watertower nearby. Taking care of Arnie is mostly Gilbert's task which can be pretty demanding, at least while you are working at the local grocery store. Then one day Becky and her grandmother passes through Endora getting trouble with the car. Gilbert falls in love with Becky, but gets problems when he tries to find time for his own private life.
Scars
On the fifteenth of october, 2014, our class was the audience of an exquisite piece of theatre. The play tries to show us teenagers, how you should (or rather: should not) use social media. The relatable topic and the fact that the play took place around us, made it very intriguing to watch and to keep watching. After the play the actors sat down with us to have a chat about social media and how it affects us.
I absolutely enjoyed the play and hope next year's 4TVWO class will get to enjoy this play aswell.
